Alan Jacobs was admitted as an attorney in 1987. Alan holds a B-Proc from the University of Pretoria, an LLB from the University of Cape Town and an LLM from the University of Bristol. Alan is recognised as a formidable litigator by his peers.
Alan has practiced uninterruptedly for over 30 years and specialises in all aspects surrounding Labour/Employment Law, Litigation, Commercial work i.e. preparation of Agreements, Shareholders Agreements, Partnership Agreements, Divorce/Family Law, Trust Law and Estate Planning. In addition Alan Jacobs & Associates provides Business rescue consulting, Mediation and other related services including Conveyancing and Notarial work.
Alan is an accredited Mediator with Conflict Dynamics and is very successful in mediating settlements of all ranges of disputes, from labour/employment, landlord/tenant, domestic, divorce, sexual harassment, abuse, through to Commercial Disputes. He has vast experience as a Mediator in these areas and is highly regarded.
In a CCMA arbitration case (Professor Michael Joseph v The University of the North) the Arbitrator recorded in his award that Alan “simply demolished his opponent’s witnesses”.
Alan has had the honour of being invited to preside as an acting Judge in the Labour Court.
Alan acts as a trustee in regard to international and local Trusts. He has vast experience in providing Trust advice.
